Product Info

Packaging:

Our fresh halibut cheeks are wrapped in butcher paper, then wrapped in bubble wrap to ensure high quality and freshness during shipment. Shipments include a combination of dry ice and gel packs to create just the right holding temperature for overnight "fresh" delivery. Fresh halibut cheeks are boneless and skinless.

Storing & Thawing:

Fresh halibut cheeks arrive fresh, not frozen, and are ready to be cooked & prepared upon delivery. Fresh halibut cheeks can be stored in your refrigerator and should be consumed within 2 to 3 days. Prior to cooking, store your fresh halibut in a shallow pan or tray on the bottom shelf of your refrigerator.

Serving Sizes:

An average serving size of halibut fillet would be one half pound. This would apply to both a main entree or other cooking methods such as battered halibut cheeks.

Health Benefits:

Halibut is good source of folic acid, niacin, potassium, selenium, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin B6 and vitamin B12. Regular consumption of halibut lowers cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood, and is extremely beneficial in lowering homocysteine levels in the body. Halibut is also good for improving blood flow and distribution of nutrients to the entire body.

Alaska halibut is a large, almost annual fishery, making it available all year round. Fresh-frozen processing and glazing allows halibut to be kept frozen for long periods of time with insured quality and means of distribution. Alaskan fishermen catch halibut sustainably, using long-lining fishing methods, which minimizes by-catch, and is regulated under strict harvest limits & regulations.
