Additional Product Info

Packaging:

Our fresh Alaska Snow crab is pre-cooked & and kept chilled until shipped overnight. It is wrapped in bubble wrap prior to shipping and kept chilled within a styrofoam box during transport with a combination of dry ice & gel ice packs.

Storing:

Fresh Snow crab should be refrigerated immediately and served within 2 days of arrival. Left-over snow crab (which is rare) should be used within a couple days of your meal.

A tip for extending the shelf life a bit is to place a bag of ice on top of the crab (be sure the storage pan is deep enough to hold the ice melt, and that the crab is not left to "drown" in a pool of water).

Serving Suggestions:

3 pounds of snow crab will serve 2 to 3 people easily if you're serving with additional entrees. If you're having a crab feast or serving a group of crab lovers, 1 pound per person would be a good start.

Health Benefits:

Snow crab is low in fat and calories, yet high in protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron. It is also a good source of Folate and Magnesium, and a very good source of Vitamin B12, Phosphorus, Zinc, Copper and Selenium. On the other hand, snow crab is very high in cholesterol and sodium.

Alaska's annual fishing quota for snow crab is usually much larger than that of other species - making snow crab one of the most abundant types of Alaska crab available. Alaska snow crab is sustainably-caught, and fishing is regulated by the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. By law, only male crabs are retained, leaving the lucky females to remain in the Bering Sea and provide more tasty crab for all of us! Alaska's main commercial fishery for Snow crab starts in January and generally last for several months. It is considered one of the harshest crab fisheries due to the winter months that it takes place in.

Country of Origin:

Our FRESH Alaska Giant Snow Crab (Bairdi) is a product of the U.S.A.
